Bullet Proof Vest Information

Bullet-proof vests are designed for protection against oncoming bullets. They are worn mainly by military personnel and the police or FBI. Actually, they are worn by anyone in a hazardous position in regard to bullets being fired.

Bullet-proof vests are made from materials called ‘Spectra’ and ‘Kevlar’. Spectra is made from fibers that get laid parallel to one another, then bonded together, with the use of a resin. The Kevlar vests, are made from a fabric made from woven cloth, and from a yarn known as ‘Kevlan’.

Not every bullet-proof vest is identical. They come with various classifications and rating, determined by the manufacturing processes used in their production. They have ratings of I, then II, then II-A, then III, then III-A, and finally IV. The lightest one is the one that has the lowest rating, and the heaviest is the IV.

Before you acquire one of these bulletproof vest for sale  you should be certain that it’s authentic. If not, then you run the risk of not being really protected. For you to be able to truly know your vest is genuine, you’ll need to check out its label. This should include a serial number, an issue date, a vest rating, a lot number, the manufacturers name, and the model and size.

Before these vests appear on the market, they have to pass some stringent testing. This is to ensure that they meet with safety standards that have been set by our National Institute of Justice. For these vests to pass these standards, there has to be a series of testing shots fired at them from various pre-set angles. If they are able to pass this crucial testing, then they’re allowed to be registered, then certified, and reproduced.

If you desire a bullet-proof vest with a rating of I – III-A, then it has to contain a disclaimer telling you it won’t be able to give protection against shrapnel or rifle shots. If you can’t find this disclaimer on the vest, then you’re better off not to take it.

Many people believe that bullet-proof vests will be bulky and highly visible, but the truth is that they can be light and hardly noticeable. Some manufacturers produce great vests with built-in jackets that keep them well hidden and the wearer confident and comfortable. The main thing is to always look out for the labels when you choose a bullet-proof vest for yourself. And if anything is missing, then avoid that vest and choose another. The cost is too high if you choose wrong.
